FESTIVAL TOURS – FAQ

Part 1:General Information


  1. Q: Who are eligible to apply?

    A: Youth aged 16 to 25 who are interested in film.
  2. Q: What is the content of the tour?

    A: The tour is guided by veteran film critics or scholars for participants who want to learn more about contemporary world cinema through experiencing HKIFF films. The tour consists of 3-5 sessions that include screenings with introductions before and discussions after each screening. Participation in Q&A sessions with the film directors will also be arranged if the directors are in attendance.
  3. Q: What language will the tour be conducted in?

    A: The tour will be conducted in Cantonese. All HKIFF screenings selected will be subtitled in English, while some of them might also come with Chinese subtitles.
  4. Q: When will the tour take place?

    A: Festival Tours take place during the Hong Kong International Film Festival from 18/3 -2/4/2013. The dates of each tour can be found at the ‘Tour Schedule’ section.
  5. Q: Must I attend all tours?

    A: We strongly advise the participants to attend all sessions (each includes an introduction, a screening and a discussion) in the tour. The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society reserves the right to refuse admission of latercomers/ absentees to the remaining tour screenings.
  6. Q: Can someone else attend the tours in my place?

    A: No.     

 

Part 2: Application


  1. Q: What is the deadline for application?

    A: The application deadline is 6/3/2012.
  2. Q: How can I sign-up?

    A: To sign-up for the tour you must complete the online application form.
  3. Q: How do I know if my application form has been received?

    A: Applicants will receive an immediate confirmation of receipt to the email account provided in the application form. If you do not receive a confirmation of receipt, please double-check your email address provided in the application form and write to us at jcca@hkiff.org.hk
  4. Q: How do I know if my application is successful?

    A: The successful candidates will be notified on or before 13 March, 2012. Applicants may consider their applications unsuccessful if they do not receive notification by this date.

 

Part 3: Fee and Deposit


  1. Q: Do I need to pay any fee for application?

    A: No application fee is required. We offer the tour FREE to the successful candidates.

 

Part 4: Programme Changes & Film Classification


  1. Q: What will happen if there are cancellations or alternations of tour?

    A: The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society reserves the right to alter the screening film, time and venue of the tours. Participants will be notified by email or phone should there be any changes.
  2. Q: What will happen if there are films classified as Category III in the Festival Tours?

    A: At the time when the application of the festival tours opens, some of the films have not been submitted to the Office for Film, Newspaper and Article Administration. In the event that a film is subsequently classified as Category III, participants under 18 years of age will not be allowed to join that session.
